Health and Safety at the Workplace

These courses have been developed to ensure that employees are equipped with a basic knowledge of health and safety at the workplace, including the duties under UK health and safety legislation. No former knowledge of health and safety is required and it is therefore ideal as an element of a company health and safety induction programme. They can also be utilised to form part of ongoing refresher training designed to maintain and progress the health and safety culture in the workplace.

We have designed these health and safety at the workplace courses to compliment a diverse group of individuals ranging from those working in large multinationals to those working in small businesses. And can tailor our courses to suit any specific requirements of your business or organisation.

Award in Principles of Health and Safety in the Workplace

This course focuses on the importance of maintaining health and safety and ensuring that employee actions reduce risks in
the workplace. It is intended for learners working in any workplace environment, including distribution centres, manufacturing, warehousing and many other industry sectors. It is also suitable for those who are returning to work or starting work for the first time.

Learners attending this course will gain a sound introduction to all aspects of health and safety including legislation, fire procedures, chemical safety, manual handling and personal protective equipment. It is ideal as an introduction to general health and safety for any environment, which can form an ideal part of an induction training programme.

Health and Safety at the Workplace Level 1

Structure

This course is made up of one mandatory unit for which learners must successfully complete the assessment. It can be utilised as a standalone course or as part of a wider programme of training.

Assessment

This course is assessed through a 30 minute, 15-question, multiple-choice examination. Successful learners must answer at least 10 out of the 15 questions correctly.

Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

Attending this course will enable learners to work safely and to recognise and deal with hazards in the workplace. The aim of the qualification is to provide learners with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace. This includes identifying hazards and risks along with the relevant legislation, and ensures awareness of cost-effective, practical control methods.

This course is applicable for any private or public sector working environment and provides employees with an awareness of their own safety, as well as the safety of customers, contractors and members of the public. The course suits employees in roles of responsibility and is an ideal way to progress them into their new position.

Health and Safety at the Workplace Level 2

Structure

This course is made up of one mandatory unit for which learners must successfully complete the assessment. It can be utilised as a standalone course or as part of a wider programme of training.

Assessment

The course is assessed through a 1 hour, 30-question, multiple-choice examination. Successful learners must answer at least 20 out of the 30 questions correctly.
